For many years I sat on the outside looking in. Sure I supported the Haiti Medical Mission. Sure I could run a website, a prayer list, coordinator. But what would happen when you are asked to really get involved? And I really mean get involved. Open the door and actually go inside a real operating room in a hospital in Haiti. Would I have the nerve to say yes? Could I afford it? All of these questions were answered by God. I remember it as if it was yesterday.
Janine asked me if I would go on the next mission trip to Haiti. My first thought was why me? There are a lot of other people more qualified, what could I do to make a difference? Then I turned to the one source of all understanding – Jesus. He placed the answer in front of me and as I read the meditation from the Word Among Us for that very same day, it read.
“Father, I’m sorry for all the times I’ve said no to you. Wipe my slate clean, and help me to say yes today!”
And as they say, the rest is history.
And I wondered how I could make a difference. If you let go and let God he will show you how you can make a difference.
The next time Janine asked me to go to Haiti with her, I answered quickly, Yes. During Lent this year whatever God asks “Will you say yes today?”
